KoroBAJK opens a new chapter in mobility on Koroškem – first stations opened in Ravne on Koroškem and in Prevalje
Last Saturday, October 3, 2026, the Regional Development Agency for Koroško, the Municipality of Ravne na Koroškem and the Municipality of Prevalje officially opened the first stations of the regional public e-bike rental system KoroBAJK. The system first came to life in Ravne na Koroškem and Prevalje. At a press conference in the meeting room of the Municipality of Ravne na Koroškem, its operation was presented, followed by a symbolic ribbon cutting and the first e-bike ride.
The project to establish a regional public e-bike rental system in Koroškem plays an important role in the further development of sustainable mobility in the region. Its key objectives are to improve accessibility and mobility of residents, reduce carbon footprint, promote an active lifestyle and strengthen sustainable tourism. At the same time, the project responds to some of the typical challenges of Koroške, such as dispersed settlement, geographical diversity, limited cycling infrastructure and poorer connectivity of individual areas with public passenger transport. It is a comprehensive regional solution that connects transport, environmental, social and tourism aspects of development.
Seven municipalities in Carinthia are included in the KoroBAJK system , and last Saturday it officially went live in the first two – Ravne na Koroškem and Prevalje. According to the director of RRA Koroška doo Uroš Rozman, the system will be fully implemented by May 2027. At that time, 110 electric bikes will be available to users at a total of 27 stations in the participating municipalities.
Statement by RRA Koroška Director Uroš Rozman: "I consider the regional approach to the integrated solution of the KoroBAJK e-bike system to be a great success, which creates a new dimension in connecting municipalities and the region's sustainable orientation. Today we opened stations in the first two municipalities, and we look forward to the others in the spring months of 2027. See you at KoroBAJK."
The system is managed by the company Nomago doo . The total value of the project in 7 municipalities amounts to 1,214,153.24 euros, and the municipalities will receive 786,986.70 euros in co-financing for its implementation.
The system itself is designed to make registration and use of the system quick and easy. The user downloads the nextbike or Nomago application, which are used by all Nomago Bikes systems in Slovenia, registers with a phone number, selects their municipality in the KoroBAJK system and adds a payment method. When activating the account, they purchase a starting package worth EUR 5, which gives them 200 minutes of riding. They can then choose an annual subscription for EUR 25 or a weekly subscription for EUR 8. With a subscription, the first 45 minutes of each rental are free, while for longer rentals, EUR 1.50 is charged for each subsequent 45 minutes. Use without a subscription is charged according to the basic price list, which is EUR 1.50 for each started 45 minutes.
You rent a bike by scanning the QR code on the bike with your phone at the station and waiting for the lock to unlock. When you finish your journey, you return the bike to any station in the KoroBAJK system, lock it and the rental is complete. You can rent and return a bike at any station in Prevalje and Ravne na Koroškem, and soon also in Mislinja, Slovenj Gradec, Dravogradu, Muta and Radlje ob Dravi. The application always shows how many bikes are at each station and how charged their batteries are. A bike can also be reserved up to 15 minutes before arriving at the station. All information about the KoroBAJK system is available at www.korobajk.si .
With an e-bike, longer and more varied routes are no longer an obstacle, as we reach our destination quickly and effortlessly. Therefore, an e-bike is suitable for commuting to work, school or running errands – for young people, the elderly and anyone who does not cycle regularly. Compared to a car, an e-bike is often even faster for distances of up to a few kilometers, as we avoid crowds and do not waste time looking for a parking space. The user does not have to worry about buying, charging or maintaining their own bike, and with an extensive network of stations, the bike is always close by. KoroBAJK is also an excellent solution for the first or last part of everyday routes in connection with other forms of public transport.
The bikes are intended for public use, so they are robust and easy to use. They are equipped with gears and electric assistance that is automatically activated each time the pedals are pedaled. The Nomago team, which has one of its business units in Pameče near Slovenj Gradec, will take care of their regular maintenance, and users can immediately report any potential problems via the application, by email to bikes@nomago.si or by calling the toll-free number 080 15 05. Each user must be registered and activated before renting, which ensures correct and responsible use of the system. Underage users over 14 years of age must provide the consent of their parents or guardian to the user support email address before their first rental. The most important thing for safe riding is the user themselves. Therefore, we urge everyone to check their bike before riding, and to follow traffic rules while riding, pay attention to pedestrians and other road users, and always adjust their speed to the road conditions.
KoroBAJK is not just an electric bike rental system, but an important step towards a more connected, active and sustainable region. Its true potential will come to life in everyday use, whether on the way to work, school, running errands or exploring Koroške.
